We’d been toying with the idea of a stationery gift box collection for a few months and adding a new service to our range.
Christmas was the decider as we put together lots of Christmas gift packs of lovely stationery which literally flew out when we were doing our corporate events. So, when the New Year came, I really wanted to bring something new and different to our online customers too.
What goes into creating a new service like this?
Starting point was really understanding our customers and what they liked. We know a lot of stationery purchases are bought as a treat for yourself or what we call “self-gifting” but there were lots of other occasions where a gorgeous box of stationery goodies makes a nice gift to give to friends or colleagues so we started looking at opportunities when a stationery gift box would be appropriate.
We knew we didn’t want to create a subscription service as there are a lot of those out there. We wanted to create a gift box service which had a range of high-quality stationery products with lovely packaging to make it a nice experience for the recipient.
We also wanted to give the opportunity for customers to add a card to the box, giving the chance to put in a personalised message to go inside.
Once we had decided on the themes it was a focused trip around the trade shows in January to source the right products that were different to what you get on the high street. We also wanted to support as many British designers as possible.
Working with local graphic designer Danielle Parisi from home interiors and lifestyle brand The Room Alive we created a new logo to differentiate the boxes from the main Got2Jot range.
What themes did we decide on?
Of course, there had to be a few choices of boxes for stationery lovers and although most of our customers are female, we also wanted to give a few options that would appeal to both men and women hence why there are several boxes to choose from
Quite often when we go to corporate events, we see colleagues coming to us with a money collection and are looking to put together a few ideas for a leaving present or for someone who has had a promotion. Now our New Job gift box takes all the hassle out of it as we have pulled together some key stylish stationery bits to help them in their new role and it comes beautifully presented in one of our boxes.
We go often to networking events and workshops where we meet entrepreneurs and small business owners and again the combination of style and practicality our notes and planners always prove popular, so we created a gift box for entrepreneurs. We love this gift box as it appeals to both new start-ups as well as those more established.
I’ve been bullet journaling now for over 2 years and its my preferred way of managing my daily to do lists for work and home. I’m not the most creative journalists but again know the products that work well if you want to start up a “Bujo”. These are particularly popular amongst teenagers, students or small business owners.
There are lots of journals out there to help you on your mindful journey but we really liked the idea of bringing together stationery items and a few treats to help you relax, reflect and stay inspired so this is one of my favourite boxes especially when you smell the gorgeous candle from Cornish makers Beautifully handcrafted in Cornwall.
With the stock coming in through the last month it was exciting seeing the collections come together allowing us to start on the photo shoot to help bring the boxes to life.
There are lots of ideas in the pipeline to extend the collection but we would love to get your feedback on the boxes and any other themes you would like us introduce.
